What is HAKOM PowerTSM®

HAKOM PowerTSM® is a toolset for high-performance capture, analysis and processing of time series with - but not limited to - energy industry relevance. On the basis of a modern microservice architecture, platform independence, database technology independence as well as plug-n-play extensibility, HAKOM PowerTSM® offers the ideal platform for any time series project whether small or large.

HAKOM PowerTSM® with FeasyUse®

The core of our philosophy, FeasyUse® (Feasibility & Usability) is to make time series easy and intuitive for everyone. We pay special attention to the following three principles:

FeasyUse® Functions

HAKOM PowerTSM® with FeasyUse® supplies the following functions:

TSM Data Model

Flexible interval: to persist time series data, any interval based on a time unit (from millisecond to year) and a multiplier can be selected. Time series can also be defined without a fixed interval.

Freely definable units: the unit of a time series, its aggregation behavior and corresponding conversion factors are freely definable.

Inheritable quality information: each data point has a quality indicator (such as valid, missing, predicted, etc.), which provides necessary information about data quality. This information is inherited in both horizontal (over several time series) and vertical (over the time axis to other intervals) aggregations, so that it is always clear which minimum quality requirement an aggregate meets.

Attributes with changing values over time: attributes can be used to extend master data, categorize time series or assign them to hierarchies (tree structures). Thereby it is possible to record temporal changes of attribute values (for example to map a change of supplier etc.). Furthermore, attributes can be taken into account in time series aggregates.

TSM Date Engine

Conversions and transformations: TSM delivers appropriate results under all conditions by automatically converting intervals and applying conversion paths between different units implicitly (considering free definable aggregation rules).

Comprehensive formula engine: the integrated formula engine enables easy capture and validation of time series formulas.

Freely definable formula functions: the function library of TSM can be easily extended by new functions.

Performance & Big Data

Parallelization: tasks are parallelized on component level and - if supported by the database - also on database level. Based on the microservice architecture, larger tasks can also be distributed across several services.

Linear scaling: additional scaling effects can be achieved by integrating linear scalable databases (such as LeanXcale, crate.io etc.).

Compressed data storage: time series data can be stored in compressed form, which leads to an up to 80% leaner data storage and improves access times for both reading and writing.

Traceability & Time Dimensions

Seamless audit: on change of any data (time series and master data), changed object (e.g. time range of a time series), change time and user are logged.

Complete historization: in addition to the audit information, a historization of the changed time series can be activated for any time series individually. It is possible to work with both current and historical data throughout the system. For this purpose, it is sufficient to enter the corresponding audit time in any request, that requires historical data.

Quotations / versioning: in addition to the historization time axis, an additional "quotation time axis" is available. This allows to assign the time of quotation manually and thus to create alternative quotation data records for calculations etc.

Integration

TSM App: the easiest access to HAKOM TSM time series is offered by our TSM Excel Add-in, where you can manage time series master data and process or link time series data.

WebTSM Services API: using our platform-independent, docker-enabled REST service the full functionality of TSM can be integrated into any application.

.NET API: our .NET API offers a .NET client for the WebTSM Services API, but can also be used as .NET library for direct access to our API functions without a configured and running "WebTSM Services" service.

Analysis

Mathematical analysis: HAKOM TSM can be easily integrated with the most common data scienece analysis tools by using the WebTSM Services API. On request we can provide appropriate use cases with sample connections.

  • Python
  • MATLAB
  • R

Visual analysis

  • TSM Visuals: provides time series analysis by visual exploration of the data utilizing the latest achievements in visual computing, such as analytical functions, linked views, self-service and more.
  • Grafana: Data visualization and monitoring tool with online dashboards.

Data exploration:

  • Excel: complete Excel integration via the TSM App
  • TSMPlus: Excel-free spreadsheet tool with full TSM integration, best suited for server use.
  • PowerBI: "Connect to and visualize any data using the unified, scalable platform for self-service and enterprise business intelligence (BI) that’s easy to use and helps you gain deeper data insight."[Source]
